This is the only prospectus
of C.A.I.A and replaces all previous versions.
- All applications must be accompanied by a report
from the school at which the applicant has completed
his/her final school examination or at which he/she
is currently a pupil. This reference must indicate
subjects and grades achieved with comments indicating
whether the prospective CAIA student possesses the
stamina and intelligence to undertake the course.
Please note that the Institute does not require training
in domestic science.
- A clean bill of health must be submitted. Candidates
must not have any physical or mental handicaps or
allergies to handling foodstuffs, nor must they suffer
from any transmittable decease.
- All candidates must submit two recent photographs
of themselves: a portrait and a full length photograph.
- Fees in case of dismissal are non-refundable.
- Interference by parents or guardians during the
training period will not be tolerated. For example
holidays may only be taken during the allocated period.
However we encourage the interest of parents and the
Director will gladly grant an interview to parents
to discuss the progress of the student.
- Students not meeting the grades of the Institute
or who have been found guilty of misconduct will be
dismissed without the Institute having to explain
the decision. Fees will be forfeited and parents or
sponsors will be held responsible for any outstanding
fees.
- Students must behave in a respectful and professional
manner at all times and must uphold the good name
of the Institute.
- Students are not permitted to undertake any catering
or outside activities without the prior consent of
the Director.
- Students must provide their own chef's kit. We will
assist by taking them to a wholesale company.
- Students must have their own medical fund. The Institute
does not take any responsibility of whatever nature
for injuries suffered during training.
- Students must provide for their own chef's jackets,
aprons, front of house outfits and must be clean and
neat at all time.
- Students are responsible for providing flip files,
pens, pencils etc.
- Students will be charged for photocopies of recipes
and other printed material.
- Students will permit C.A.I.A to use photographic
material (which may include students) for publication
purposes.

The C.A.I.A. course has no hidden costs and no rip
off prices for equipment and clothing. However it is
expected of students to show an interest in the subject
by buying books and by subscribing to magazines. Notepaper,
pens and pencils, photostatted copies, etc will cost
an additional R10 000,00 over the three years.
